Team's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Welcome to team Rays of Hope's fundrasing page!
This year we, Hannah Wohlfarth (Sophomore) and Ginny Coskery (Junior) at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, are privileged to be nominated as candidates to lead a team (Rays of Hope), in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2023 Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition led by high school students to raise money to support LLS and their cause, where we are leading a group of our peers who will help contribute in our fundraisung efforts. We we need your support for our campaign and LLS’s mission to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease or myeloma.
We accepted the amazing opportunity to participate in the 2023 LLS campaign because serving is something we are very passionate about. Leading others to serve is such a blessing, and being a candidate allows us to be a part of something that is bigger than ourselves. We are ecstatic to continue what Team Rays of Hope started last year and put our time and service into such a life-changing cause. We have been given this opportunity to help others and we cannot do it without your support.
From January 8th to February 25th, Rays of Hope’s goal is to raise over $65,000! Yes, you read that correctly, more than $65,000 in just 7 weeks, which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission. We know this is an ambitious undertaking, but we know that we can achieve it with the help of our amazing friends and families.
Our inspiration for this campaign is our team’s Honored Heroes, Ray Coskery and Alice Thein, who have fueled us to ensure others like them do not have to face the same hardships.
Ray Coskery, my (Ginny’s) grandpa, is a long-term cancer survivor. He has miraculously lived with Lymphoma and has overcome Melanoma, Prostate, Bladder, and Colon cancer. He is the true definition of a walking miracle. Ray is an inspiration for surviving and living with a positive attitude throughout his time battling each. He plays a huge factor and serves as motivation in why I joined this campaign. I hope that everyone struggling or fighting cancer gets a chance to overcome it as well.
Alice Thein is a dear friend to my (Hannah’s) family. It is incredible to hear what she has been through and all she has overcome as a cancer survivor. Ms. Thein was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1997 at 57 years old. After hearing the news, she was told she had six months to live, but after a long journey with chemotherapy and a few infusions, she became cancer free! Ms. Thein is still in remission and remains full of joy every day, and I wish the same for all the people we are fighting for!
Please help our team's life-changing vision by donating today! All donations are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to tell your friends and family. In fact, tell everyone you know! You never know how people have been affected by cancer, so reach out and let them know how they can make a difference by helping LLS today. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
